There's something good cooking in West Sacramento. It's a new pastry called FatCat Scones.
Erik Finnerty and Anthony Van Reese are co-founders of the company. FatCats are unbaked,
frozen scones that go right from the freezer into the oven.
There are six flavors: peach passion fruit, pumpkin oat spice, wild blueberry, maple walnut,
ginger currant and shortcake. In addition, the company has seasonal flavors, such as cranberry eggnog.
We sampled the peach passion fruit and were quite impressed. The scones come in a plastic bag. You
take out the number you want to bake and pop them into the oven on top of the enclosed square of
parchment paper. You don't even need to grease the pan. In about 30 minutes, you'll have a tasty,
buttery and moist pastry. There's even a little tub of frosting to spread over the hot scones.
FatCat Scones are not available in stores, but can be ordered at www.fatcatscones.com. Orders will
be shipped via two-day delivery or you can pick them up from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at
752 Northport Drive, Suite E, West Sacramento. You can also call the bakery at (916) 372-6464
to place an order. Scones are $15 per dozen or $22 for two dozen.
